Ke iki beach

is a big beach up on the North shore of Oahu.  Its about a mile across and 200-300 feet wide so there’s always room for a wedding or family picture.  It’s tucked away out of site from the main road so most people just drive by and never realize what a beautiful beach they are missing.  There are a lot of reasons why Ke Iki beach is a great spot for a wedding or family picture.  It’s got great views of the sunset.  It’s not too windy most of the time.  The wind and rain are mostly blocked by the Koolau mountains in the east.  The sand is very clean and kind of chunky so it doesn’t stick as much.  Nice for sitting or even laying down poses.  The only downside I would say is that it is quite a drive from Honolulu and Waikiki on the other side of the island.  It’s all the way up North and Honolulu is pretty much on the bottom of the island so I recommend making a day of it and coming up to see all the North shore attractions.  Haleiwa is a cute town with art galleries, restaurants and shave ice.  It’s 10 minutes before Ke iki beach on your way up the North shore.  In the winter it’s fun to come and watch the surfers ride the waves.
