Do you shoot alone or with a second photographer?
I generally work alone but I can add a second photographer for 20% of the package cost.
What is the plan in case you are to fall sick?
I have a handful of photographers that I have gotten to know with a similar experience level and similarly priced packages. I would do my best to get you covered with one of them and refund the difference in package price. You would of course be offered a full refund if I wasn't able to find a solution you were happy with. Having said all that I have to mention that it's really rare. I haven't had to call in sick from a wedding in 5 or 6 years.
Do you shoot raw?
I shoot all weddings in a high resolution uncompressed setting (camera raw). This gives me the freedom to adjust color and exposure the perfect levels. It takes a lot more time (an extra 2 to 4 hours per wedding) but it is really worth it.
Will you be personally shooting my wedding?
All weddings booked with Adam A. Palmer photography will be shot by Adam.
Do you provide referrals?
I'd be happy to provide you with the email or phone number of previous clients.
What should I wear? (For family pictures)
I tend to like solid colors over patterns. I also find that muted colors seem to appeal to me. Having said that however I would say to trust your own dressing instincts. You probably know best what looks good on you.
How long does it take to get to get my photos?
During the summer months (May to august is the peak wedding season) I can have your photos editted, color corrected and uploaded to the internet no later than two weeks after the date of your wedding. If I am not too busy I try to have them done about a week after the wedding.
You will get your 4x6 prints 1 to 2 weeks after the images have been posted on the Internet. I try to remember to bring your album to the event. Your custom retouched enlargements take about 3 weeks from the time I get the order.

Just shot a beautiful wedding at Waimea Falls Park. It was coordinated by Alia Kennedy of Parasol Events. Everything was beautiful and went really smoothly so if you are looking for a coordinator give her a call. You can find her information at You can find her information at www.parasolevents.com

What is my favorite thing about being a Hawaii portrait and wedding photographer? I get to work outside. How many people can say they get paid to go the beach.
That and meeting a lot of nice people.

Lately I've been having some issues with people not getting the email I've sent. I'm guessing it's ending up in the junk mail folders for some reason. I respond to most emails within a day or two so call me if you haven't heard from me. My number is (808) 554-7721. It's anywhere from 3 to 6 hours earlier here than it is in the mainland. Another way to make sure you get my mail is to add my name and email to your contact list. I usually send mail from mail@adadmapalmer.com. Occasionally I will use adam@adamapalmer.com. Thanks, Adam

I really love Oahu's north shore. It's usually sunny. The wind isn't usually too strong. The beaches are big, clean and beautiful. You can watch the sunset. People are nice. It's about an hour from Honolulu but well worth the drive. There's no question in my mind these are the best beaches on the island. My two favorite spots to shoot weddings on the North Shore are Ke Iki beach and Kawela Bay.
Here's a link to Ke Iki beach on google maps
Here's a photo of the beach
Keiki is a big, mostly empty beach. Really beautiful.

The beach at Kawela isn't as luxurious as Ke Iki but it it next to a cool grove of coconut trees and banyan trees. Can't beat it for variety and it's very secluded. Hardly ever anyone there.

Some people have asked before what type of equipment I use for my weddings. Like a lot of photographers I love cameras and I may tend to over do it a little when it comes to equipment. It's just so fun to buy and use. I have at least 2 of everything. I have two camera bodies-- the Canon 5d (12.8 megapixel) and the Canon 40d (10 megapixels). The 5d is my main camera but I bring them both to all my shoots. The 40d still has a few advantages over the 5d (mainly the 6.5 frame per second shooting speed.)
I have 7 lens from extreme wide angle to a nice long telephoto lens for surfing. Here's the list for those of you into camera gear: 17-40mm f4.0L, 24-70mm f2.8 L, 28-135mm with image stabilization, 50mm f1.4, 100-300mm 5.6, 70-200mm f2.8l and the 400mm 5.6L.
